Introduction to magnetic refrigeration: magnetocaloric materials

چکیده

Abstract This work presents a review of research on the magnetic refrigerator, which different is presented. The principle refrigeration at room temperature and its interests has been shown. phase transitions, first-order second-order, have shown with advantages disadvantages both. Indeed, materials benefit from high entropy adiabatic change. Their negative point consists in their great hysteresis. It quite opposite for second-order transition materials. An overview existing characterization magnetocaloric effect explained.

Large magnetocaloric effect and adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration with YbPt2Sn

Adiabatic demagnetization is currently gaining strong interest in searching for alternatives to (3)He-based refrigeration techniques for achieving temperatures below 2 K. The main reasons for that are the recent shortage and high price of the rare helium isotope (3)He. Here we report the discovery of a large magnetocaloric effect in the intermetallic compound YbPt2Sn, which allows adiabatic dem...

Preliminary Analysis of a Fully Solid State Magnetocaloric Refrigeration

Magnetocaloric refrigeration is an alternative refrigeration technology with significant potential energy savings compared to conventional vapor compression refrigeration technology. Most of the reported active magnetic regenerator (AMR) systems that operate based on the magnetocaloric effect use heat transfer fluid to exchange heat, which results in complicated mechanical subsystems and compon...

Mastering hysteresis in magnetocaloric materials.

Hysteresis is more than just an interesting oddity that occurs in materials with a first-order transition. It is a real obstacle on the path from existing laboratory-scale prototypes of magnetic refrigerators towards commercialization of this potentially disruptive cooling technology. Indeed, the reversibility of the magnetocaloric effect, being essential for magnetic heat pumps, strongly depen...

Review of the magnetocaloric effect in manganite materials

A thorough understanding of the magnetocaloric properties of existing magnetic refrigerant materials has been an important issue in magnetic refrigeration technology. This paper reviews a new class of magnetocaloric material, that is, the ferromagnetic perovskite manganites (R1 xMxMnO3, where R 1⁄4 La, Nd, Pr and M 1⁄4 Ca, Sr, Ba, etc.). The nature of these materials with respect to their magne...
